Position Information

The Assistant Vice Provost for International Affairs (AVPIA) is responsible for implementing international strategy initiatives and developing effective collaborations with campus partners in line with the internationalization vision of the Vice Provost (VP) for International Affairs and the University. The AVPIA works closely with the VP as well as directors of units in the International Affairs (IA) to ensure alignment between IA activities and University goals, provides administrative oversight and guidance for IA reporting units including International Students and Scholars (ISS) and Education Abroad and the central business and communications units in IA. Oversees international education outreach and evaluation and oversees the development of international partnership agreements. Assists the VP in providing functional alignment and support to the UCR overseas Strategic Partners, University Extension and the Area Studies initiative. As directed by the Vice Provost, the AVPIA of International Initiatives will provide university-wide leadership for University of California Riverside's international activities, develop a strategic vision, and coordinate with academic and service units in order to execute activities in line with the university international agenda. In this key role, the AVPIA will provide visionary leadership to advance the existing international educational programs and initiatives, coordinate and support international agreements between UCR faculty, colleges, schools and other international institutions, and develop innovative new plans for international programs and activities. The AVPIA will also work with other units to enhance international recruitment efforts; and based on curriculum alignment, seek collaborations with other global educational institutions in order to develop research and learning opportunities for both faculty and students abroad. Lastly, in collaboration with International Affairs communications manager, the AVPIA will work to enhance the University's global brand through education activities that help prepare students to thrive in a global environment. The successful candidate will be significantly involved in all international student's recruitment and admission efforts; collaborate with other University offices to assist with visa and immigration issues; work closely with education abroad units as well as with academic units in the University to enhance UCR's presence as a global brand.
