Department Custom Scope
Working within the Staff Experience unit as part of the Strategic Operations division, the HR Generalist 3 will serve as an integral part of the Human Resources/Staff Experience team for UCR University Extension, the continuing education arm of the University of California, Riverside. The position is responsible for a variety of HR functions in support of organizational human resource management for staff, student staff, and by-agreement instructors through responsibilities in the development, implementation, administration, analysis and evaluation of human resource programs and procedures. The HR Generalist 3 carries responsibilities, advises and provides consultation to leadership and unit directors/supervisors regarding work force planning, compensation, classification, full cycle recruitment, performance management, HR policy interpretation and compliance, and professional development. The HR Generalist 3 also carries responsibilities in employee and labor relations, disability accommodation, leave administration, and provides analyses of human resources data and reporting, as needed. The HR Generalist 3 is responsible for a high degree of collaboration and coordination in the delivery of HR services to support the University Extension organization through planning with organizational units/divisions, Citrus Shared Service Center, and Central Human Resources. The position uses HR concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR-related issues. Works on problems that are diverse and complex in scope, where analysis of situations require a review of a variety of factors.   • Reviews and analyzes requests for classification, equity, and retention actions and provides consultation and recommendations. Ensures compliance with UC policy, campus local procedures, organizational unit procedures, state/federal laws, and governing regulatory agencies.

Provides support to departments in administering policies and programs in the areas of employment, labor relations, wage and salary administration, training, and other areas of HR.
  • Acts as the main point of contact for all leave of absence management issues with the Shared Service Center.

Counsels department managers and supervisors on employee and labor policies, procedures, and appropriate practices.
