Custom Scope
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research administrator to independently develop and/or oversee research proposals, awards and/or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Works on proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations. Completes and approves transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official. Works on complex proposals and awards that may involve multiple investigators and/or multiple sub awards. Guides less experienced staff. Central Role(CR): Is eligible for delegated signature authority (may vary by campus). Department Role(DR): Typically works on complex proposals such as grants/contracts which require task budgets, option years, multiple investigators and multiple sub awards.

Department Custom Scope
The Center for Environmental Research & Technology (CE-CERT) is seeking a Senior Analyst to assist principal investigators (PIs) with pre and post-award administration of contracts and grants. Under general direction from the Financial Operations Manager, the incumbent will provide leadership and high-level technical support for the proposal submission process and post-award fund administration. This support will include developing a broad foundation of sponsor and university policies. The incumbent will work with a variety of federal and some non-federal sponsors including the NSF, California Energy Commission (CEC), Department of Energy (DOE), and will be responsible for proposals and awards of diverse scope. This includes analysis of data thorough understanding of complex regulations and providing guidance to principal investigators in the management of their funds. Proposals and awards may involve multi-collaborative and multi-institutional stakeholders as well as communicating effectively among various departments on campus to ensure timely submission of reports and grant proposals.

Coordinates proposal submissions.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and coordination of multidisciplinary, collaborative, and large proposal submissions as well as Business Service Agreements with industry partners.

(DR): Prepares complex proposal budgets and support documents that are required by proposal guidelines.

Provides post-award financial administration and management for research funds in accordance with organization policy and agency requirements.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for contracts and grants. Provides training to co-workers within the department in both pre- and post-award administration, including use of R'space applications.

Prepares contract invoicing and cost-share Reporting. Performs complex calculations and prepares and submits contract invoices and cost-share reports to accounting office to receive payment from sponsors for projects within CE-CERT. Compiles all necessary backup documentation for invoicing. Establish and maintain an efficient cost-share tracking system to track past, current, and future cost-share commitments.
