Department Custom Scope
The Occupational Health Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Occupational Health Program's administrative needs within the Environmental Health and Safety division. Reporting to the Occupational Health Director, this position will develop procedures and methods to execute an effective occupational health program for a research university. Investigate, research, gather data and prepare reports as necessary. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with administrative and technical aspects of the Occupational Health Program. Duties include maintaining the written and electronic records of the occupational health program activity; facilitating the referral process for UCR personnel to obtain medical services for medical surveillance and follow-up. Assists with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and related response equipment program, including AED monthly inspection functions and traveling to campus and off-campus locations managed under the UCR AED program. Support the overall goals of the organizational unit.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Prepares confidential correspondence and other written materials for department management related to the Occupational Health Program. Manages the files in the occupational health program, extracts data to prepare reports, using excel to create reports as necessary.

Handles electronic patient records and maintains them following federal, state, and campus requirements. This will include data entry into database information for medical clearances of anyone requiring medical surveillance or medical follow-ups for specific research projects or areas identified by campus hazard assessment or determined by the job performed. Contacts campus personnel to obtain or coordinate medical services and submits referrals to approved campus vendors.

Oversees and coordinates messages regarding occupational health-related information to relevant parties, including employees, students, and research staff, in coordination with other campus departments to ensure timely services/needs are addressed. This would include overseeing the messages related to medical clearances, medical follow-ups, and medical accommodations. Maintain records for a decentralized campus vaccination program.

Travels to campus and off-campus locations to ensure monthly maintenance of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and related response equipment is tested and working correctly. Conducts periodic visual inspections and inventory. Notifies the AED Medical Director of any cardiac arrest or use of the AED. Prepares any correspondence and troubleshoot any questions related to this program.

Reviews data and reports and may find trends or errors and suggests solutions. Maintain billing and occupational health agreements for a decentralized occupational health program.

Provides general administrative and clerical support, including scheduling, routing calls, monitoring expenses, submitting purchase orders, and editing written material. Other duties include special projects such as vaccination or clinical events for the campus community.

Works with department management to update/review/revise the website to communicate the organization's mission better.
