Custom Scope
Under direction of higher-level K-14 Academic Preparation Specialist, works with assigned institutions and organizations to implement academic preparation programming of moderate scope. Maintains program visibility in schools. Maintains collaborative relationships with K-14 institutions and/or community entities. Maintains relationships with higher education institutions. |
Department Custom Scope
The Office of TRIO Programs provides pre-college programs that aim to prepare and motivate high school students to pursue a higher education. The TRIO Programs are federally funded through 5-year grants from the U.S. Department of Education. Under general supervision of the Educational Talent Search Assistant Director, the High School Coordinator (HSC) travels to target high schools to meet with participants. In addition, the HSC assists in the planning and coordination of events such as field trips, College and Financial Aid workshops, and the summer program. The HSC will be in charge of initiating the recruitment, selecting, training and overseeing High School Mentors (Tutors) and/or Student Office Assistants. In addition, the HSC will assist with creating all High School Transcript Evaluations. Lastly, the HSC will have an integral part assisting the Assistant Director with the recruitment of all program participants. The Talent Search grant is currently in year 2 of 5. |
