Department Custom Scope
The Multimedia & Classroom Technology Analyst is part of a team that provides A/V services and support to the entire campus. Assists with installation and deployment of networked digital presentation hardware for new builds or legacy upgrades and follows up on the maintenance of existing equipment. Works in conjunction with Multimedia Service Coordinators to provide special events equipment and support; in addition, may supervise student employees for high profile events when needed. Provides instructional technology support in all general assignment classroom spaces and service delivery for both academic and non-academic events. Responds to clients requests and incidents within service management platform.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Evaluates user and network requirements. Conducts basic project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons. Gathers and analyzes resource data to assist other analysts in traffic study analyses. Consults with users/departments to determine communication needs.

Implements routine or basic communications and network system changes. Installs distribution and access electronics. Participates in the configuration and testing of basic network diagnostic tools and software.

Diagnose and troubleshoot networked audio-visual equipment, including engaging appropriate groups (networking, engineering) to escalate as required

Collaborate with various teams to install networked audio visual equipment in engineering racks, including runnings cables to and from sources and destinations.

Troubleshoots moderately complex issues in data or voice distribution and access network components and electronics. Works directly with vendor/manufacturer technical support to resolve basic or routine hardware and software issues.

Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Required
Basic understanding of various network hardware platforms, network related protocols and software including basic understanding of OSI layer 2 protocols and related technical standards critical to the operation of interconnected networks. Required
