Custom Scope
Under general supervision, develops and/or oversees research proposals, awards and/or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional and research sponsor policies. Works on proposals of moderate scope such as single investigator NSF proposals where analysis of financial information or reports requires review of a variety of factors (e.g. budgets, salaries, expenses, etc). Receives assignments on project basis and fully analyzes problems, gathers data and information, and recommends solutions. May be eligible for delegated signature authority. Completes and approves transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official.

Department Custom Scope
Under the supervision of the Financial Operation Manager, provides high-level administrative and technical support for contract and grant application process and post-award fund administration for assigned Principle Investigators within the departments of Biochemistry, Microbiology & Plant Pathology and Nematology. Will be responsible for proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires a thorough understanding of complex regulations. Perform high-level budget/resource analyses and prepare monthly financial reports for principal investigators utilizing campus financial systems. Track and reconcile expenses for extramural and other fund sources maintaining fiscal integrity and internal controls. Applies professional concepts to provide projections and analyze spending and proactively resolve issues.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
(DR): Analyzes transactions, expenditures, identifies and resolves discrepancies, financial and inventory reports. Prepares proposal budgets and support documents that are required by proposal guidelines.
  • Collaborates with PIs and Research Office to coordinate proposal submissions.

(DR): Under general supervision, provides post-award financial administration and management for research funds in accordance with organization policy and agency requirements.
  • Reconcile monthly statements for all assigned PI fund sources.

Department Role (DR): Under general supervision, organizes, plans, establishes and monitors fiscal budget control of contracts and grants administration, gifts, endowments and privately funded projects for faculty research programs.

(DR): Applies professional concepts to provide projections, analyze spending and recommend adjustments.
  • Provide PIs with recommendations to resolve funding problems to efficiently use resources based on analysis of PI's funding sources, expiration dates, and personnel commitments. Monitors fund balances and proactively resolves issues to minimize fund overdrafts and cost transfers. Assists with payroll processes to initiate transactions, prepare adjustments, and provide projections for personnel in assigned PIs' lab.
