Department Custom Scope
The Residency Determination System Analyst will report to the Associate Director, Student Web Solutions and will serve as a key technical contact for the system-wide Residency Determination project. This position will be responsible for working with business partners (UCOP) to define the business problem, gather business requirements, formulate appropriate process and IT solutions, and deliver recommendations for improvements. The incumbent will work with business partners to confirm scope and understanding of project work priorities, coordinate project deliverables and establish timelines.

Applies advanced business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define highly complex systems scope and objectives based on advanced knowledge of applicable business practices, processes and systems and industry standards to meet end-user needs. Works at the highest technical level of various phases of systems analysis. Considers the business implications of applying technology to the current and future business environment.
  • Responsible to liaise with stakeholders, execute communication plan and keep all undergraduate campuses aware and informed of project progress and impacts. Develops User Acceptance Testing scenarios. Communicates technical information in a clear and concise manner.

Initiates, designs or modifies highly complex systems and procedures where standardized policies or procedures may or may not exist. Creates highly technical specifications for systems with broad impact at a campus/medical center/OP or within a large organization. Develops unit integration and acceptance testing plans and scenarios. May lead cross-functional teams to address complex business or systems issues.
  • Establishes or maintains system documentation standards. Schedules and conducts analysis sessions. Documents ownership, custody and access requirements for systems subject areas.

Initiates, facilitates, implements and documents work process changes. Prepares and approves or obtains approval for business process and procedural documentation. Initiates and oversees changes in processes and procedures. Sets the technical requirements for complex specifications.
  • Writes and develops full business requirements documentation for a multi-campus, highly complex solution. Works closely with the application architects and developers in the development and creation of project tasks and backlog items. Consults with stakeholders to document business requirements.

Performs highly complex analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements and translation into proper system and process requirement specifications. Provides advanced support and training on new applications. Mentors experienced Business Systems Analysts and may lead a team of business analyst professionals.
  • Executes, verifies and ensures data management processes are followed to sustain the integrity of the data. Monitors system processes and coordinates efforts to ensure issues are resolved.
