Department Custom Scope
Per the awarded NRT Project, UCR's Plants3D graduate training program seeks an individual to coordinate the program activities. The individual will work with the Director, the faculty Leadership team, and other individuals on and off campus to meet the program goals. This program, funded by the National Science Foundation, seeks to provide an exciting education and training environment for graduate students in science and engineering. Plants3D fosters team research projects that address challenges in agriculture and human health. The Program Coordinator will be engaged in the organization of program activities, including a variety of events and educational opportunities, student internships and travel, research competitions, program evaluation and annual reporting, and the program website, https://plants3d.ucr.edu/. Finalists will be required to submit a work sample as part of the selection process. The budgeted hiring range for this position is $60,761 - 65,000. Please note: While we do not anticipate that our position will be eligible for visa sponsorship, international applicants are still welcome to apply. Key Responsibilities

Organizes diverse events (seminar, workshop, retreat). Communicates with trainees, faculty, seminar speakers, other administrators/staff, and the community via email and newsletters. Determines that program components are active, interfacing with the director, leadership, other faculty an external Evaluator and their assistants. Participates in an active NRT Coordinator network. Assists the Director and Leadership in the development and evolution of the program. Performs assignments to include crafting written communication (emails, newsletters, reports, website) and preparation and delivery of oral presentations to an audience (i.e., involving recruitment, as a program representative at NSFNRT PI meeting). Participates in student recruitment, mentoring, and retention matters related to the program. Provides assistance with other CEPCEB education and research objectives. Completes special projects assigned by the Director. Coordinates graduate student fellowship support and training; and interacts with faculty, analysts, evaluators, technology transfer and entrepreneurship specialists, other staff and stakeholders to enable day-to-day and long-range activities of that seek to meet program goals ensure appropriate appointment assignments and entries. Other functions to administer include programmatic goals, events including monthly, seminars, organizational meetings, recruitment and training events, and teaching.

Designs, maintains, and revises program website and posted general operating procedures and guidelines. Ensures all content meets the goals of the program and evaluate correct issues to be communicated. Interacts with program and external Evaluator and helps to implement improvements. Interacts with NSF-NRT Coordinator network to gain and share ideas that improve the NSF-NRT mission.

Independently plan and forecast budgets for various activities/events and perform various analysis. Oversees major program events and associated logistics (to include e-Pay submission processing) for the NRT Grant. Interfaces with financial analyst. Manages student travel and interacts with IIGB travel coordinator.

Gathers and analyzes financial, scholastic, and research output data; prepares analyses of program activities. Contributes to writing of annual program report for the NSF. Works with the CEBCEB Director and Institute of Integrative Genome Biology administration staff department in coordinating Center for Plant Cell Biology department gift fund acquisitions.

Serves as the program department resource for customer issues and vendor concerns by researching and troubleshooting discrepancies and problems.

Works with college, campus, and department committees on data collection, analysis, and report generations as needed.

Provides consultation and guidance to faculty regarding eligibility requirements and documents needed for project revisions, new competitive grants/awards, regional research/multi-state projects. Ensures compliance of annual progress and termination reports as required by Sponsor. Instructs faculty and trainees on reporting data, navigating reports systems to ensure compliance.
