Department Custom Scope
The Pathway Programs at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine is committed to diversifying the physician workforce and offers unique programs serving high school, community college, university and postbaccalaureate students. Pathway Programs is a team of professionals who are committed to achieving the Mission of the UCR School of Medicine through providing programs and services for students from educationally and socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. The Pathway Programs Coordinator collaborates with Pathway Programs Director and Associate Dean of Student Affairs to implement programs and activities. The incumbent?s responsibilities include: outreach and recruitment, admissions screening, and coordinating professional development and advising workshops. The incumbent coordinates the Medical Leaders of Tomorrow and Health Sciences Partnership programs. The incumbent collaborates with the Pathway Programs to expand mentorship opportunities for high school and college students. The incumbent represents UCR School of Medicine Pathway Programs at recruitment fairs, conferences, colleges and universities, high schools, and regional events and meetings. This is a position is funded by a five-year Health Professions Pathways Program grant from the California Department of Health Care Access and the project is currently in year one of the performance period. Positions may be extended based on funding and program needs.

Key Responsibilities

Provides information about higher education generally and UC specifically one-on-one and to groups.
  • Develops, implements and coordinates information sessions, professional development workshops, career panels, and guest speaker series for pre-health students.

Coordinates the Medical Leaders of Tomorrow academic year Saturday sessions and summer residential program. Hires and trains student staff.

Provides substantive information on admissions requirements, school/college programs and curricula, financial aid, housing, and career opportunities.
  • Collaborates with Pathway Programs staff to deliver information sessions and recruit prospective students into health career pathways. Collaborates with Admissions offices, Financial Aid, Career Center to provide activities and workshops for Pathway students. Represents Pathway Programs at recruitment events and pre-health conferences.
