Department Custom Scope
Under the direction of the School of Education (SOE) Manager of Information Technology and Director of Marketing and Communications, the Information Systems Analyst supports IT services used by the faculty, staff, researchers and instructional programs and supplies technical expertise to meet the challenges of this increasingly dynamic environment. Responsibilities include support of IT services, including service delivery, server and desktop deployment and maintenance, and development of new technical solutions. The Information Systems Analyst remains current with developments in the field, supports established IT procedures and standards, helps implement work flow processes, and ensures consistent delivery of IT services. In addition, this position is responsible for monitoring and upgrading the School of Education website and all associated websites. Displays an excellent understanding of content management systems (CMS) and technology infrastructures using CSS, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Web-Proxy, and Security Audits. Comfortable troubleshooting websites and constantly improving their design, functionality, and User Experience (UX). This position requires a combination of programming skills (PHP, HTML, CSS, JS, etc.) and aesthetics (understanding element arrangements on the screen, the color and font choices, and so on). Strong candidates will have a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems. Experience with responsive and adaptive design is strongly preferred. In addition, an understanding of the entire web development process, including design, development and deployment, with some back-end knowledge, is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Provides support for diverse clients including faculty, staff, researchers, students, teaching assistants, and instructors. Support must be delivered in a well prioritized, professional, timely, and respectful fashion. Provides effective documentation, training, and self-help resources for these clients. Provides trouble ticket and in person (or equivalent remote) support and diagnostics for clients' software and networking problems. Maintains and improves documentation on local procedures related to client support.

Responsible for helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme. Work closely with back-end developers and customers to ensure an effective, visually appealing, and intuitive implementation. Inclusive of but, not limited to monitoring and upgrading the organization's website. Responding to and troubleshooting all website issues, updating HTML, CSS and JavaScript regularly, ensuring website quality and efficiency by conducting regular test plans, improving the User Experience of the website regularly, collaborate with all staff and management to ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy and meets the organization's and industry's standards. Serving on the UCR Site Factory Manager committee, and keeping SOE updated with any major changes that will impact the websites. Working with staff and faculty to create new, UCR-approved websites and creating new pages and microsites as needed. Ensuring full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations.
