Department Custom Scope
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Campus Planning for Planning, Design & Construction (PD&C), provides campus planning professional services for program and project development and continuance of the organization's programs such as the capital financial plan, deferred maintenance program, seismic safety program, and accessibility program including responsibility for collection, analysis, and evaluation of planning data and preparation and presentation of statistical and graphic supporting material. Provides staff planning services and planning analyses for major physical planning and capital project studies, and studies related to campus-wide site development, infrastructure, and utilities. Lead project planning teams and discussions using written, verbal and interpersonal skills effectively for a wide variety of audiences. Assists in the review, input, and monitoring related to project schedules and funding. Improves organization practices and processes using thorough knowledge in urban planning and integrated higher education planning.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Provides staff planning services for major planning studies such as circulation and parking requirements, academic building locations, student housing requirements, and utility distribution systems.
  • Provides staff planning services such as public realm improvements and accessibility studies. Provides staff planning support and maintenance associated with the campus Capital Improvement Program and the approval of minor and major capital improvement projects. Assists with management of capital processes and approvals, as well as updates to the campus Capital Financial Plan, Deferred Maintenance Program, and Campus Seismic Plan. Establishes project approval maps (budget and ?nance) site options analysis, environmental analysis, and integration with project management factors including schedule and scope).

Participates in planning for long range and precinct plans, facility master plans, transportation plans and in the concept, project definition and feasibility phases of building and infrastructure projects.
  • Responsibility for collection, analysis, and evaluation of planning data and for preparation and presentation of statistical and graphic supporting material. Forms and leads project planning teams in the programming phase and communicates with internal and external stakeholders and resolves issues as they arise. Prepares RFQs/RFPs and Scopes of Work and facilitates interviews and selection of consultants. Assists with coordination with community groups and off campus stakeholders, such as City and County.

Develop appropriate documentation in support of the siting/physical development evaluation of individual capital projects. Support review and updates to campus design and construction standards, and campus signage guidelines.

Provides staff planning services for development and continuance of the organization's long-range development plan, including responsibility for collection, analysis, and evaluation of planning data and for preparation and presentation of statistical and graphic supporting material.

Provide staff planning services for environmental analysis and compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and related federal, state and local regulations and mandates. Includes coordination with UC Office of the President professional staff (physical, environmental and legal).
