Custom Scope
Responsible for the standardized execution of an industry alliance program; brokering, developing and sustaining partnerships. Engages partners, expanding partnerships to maximize the value of the relationship for the University and the organization.

Department Custom Scope
The Director of EPIC Instructional Programs International Partnerships will provide program management, teaching, and coaching to participants in the EPIC Entrepreneurial Education and the EPIC international incubator programs. The Director will assist in expanding EPIC's and UCR's partnerships around the world and in sustaining and expanding EPIC's entrepreneurial education and mentoring programs at UCR and in the community.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Leads proactive outreach, building and leveraging relationships with high level contacts and key decision makers to generate opportunities for entering into research agreements and licensing opportunities. Identifies and qualifies prospective partnerships by assessing interests and evaluating their value to the University research program.
  • Supports outreach and engagement with organizations around the world but in particular in Latin America that will lead to the attraction and incubation of international startup companies to the Inland Empire.

Directs Industry Alliance Professionals to facilitate cost-effectiveness, synergy, and customer satisfaction for all Department Programs. Assists in recruiting, training, and developing a highly skilled and diverse workforce.
  • Develops individual mentoring and commercialization programs for international companies incubated by UCR OTP. Organizes and hosts international missions for entrepreneurs, startups and country representatives interested in developing partnerships around innovation, entrepreneurship, and regional economic development.

Develops and proposes persuasive strategies outlining plans for research collaborations and fee-for-services, to pitch how the University and prospective partner can form a mutually beneficial partnership. Employs business development tactics to follow up and close deals.
  • Develops, promotes and implements entrepreneurial education and incubation programs on behalf of UCR Office of Technology Partnerships.

Investigates industry alliance program benefits and services and proposes strategies to make partnership more attractive to prospects. Conducts core industry research, analyzes research partnership opportunities and identifies areas for business development.
  • Supports EPIC Entrepreneurial Education programs, UCR INNOVAR as a teaching instructor and technology commercialization mentor. Participates and supports the EPIC Small Business Development Center providing expert advice and subject matter expertise to teams.

Collaborates with campus colleagues to ensure productive industry-university relationships. Coordinates and synthesizes activities of research program with industry development team and faculty, leadership from research centers, and other campus departments to develop large scale projects.
  • Works collaboratively with other UCR OTP programs and staff and UCR departments to ensure synergy.

Participates in the preparation and delivery of educational content following the INNOVAR customer discovery program. Supports participant teams as mentor and coach. This includes potentially accompanying teams through the National Icorps program.

Helps to deliver training overseas as well as in country.
