Position Information

Under supervision by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Manager of Technical Operations, the Information Systems Analyst supports IT services used by the instructional program and supplies technical expertise to meet the challenges of this increasingly dynamic environment. Responsibilities include support of IT services, including service delivery, server and desktop deployment and maintenance, and development of new technical solutions. The Information Systems Analyst remains current with developments in the field, supports established IT procedures and standards, helps implement work flow processes, and ensures consistent delivery of IT services. The hiring budget is $61,800 - $100,000.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards.
Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Basic knowledge of incident response procedures. Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications.
Demonstrated experience with database administration.
General knowledge of several areas of IT.
Knowledge relating to the design and development of software. Basic knowledge of secure software development.
Demonstrated knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies. Demonstrated skills applying security controls to computer software and hardware.
Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of business processes and procedures. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
Demonstrated understanding of how system management actions affect users and dependent/related functions.
Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.
Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
Experience as a UNIX/Linux System Administrator, including experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux derivatives such as CentOS and/or Debian derivatives such as Ubuntu.
Experience with programming languages and web development related languages - Java, C++, and/or JavaScript.
Experience with operating system virtualization and containers using VirtualBox and/or Docker.
Experience with scripting languages including Bash and Python, and version control software such as Git.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of University of California Policies and Procedures regarding computing, communications, and computer usage.

Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.

Experience with cloud services and vendors such as AWS and Cloud 9.

Experience with configuration management software such as Ansible.
