Position Information

Under the general direction of the Acquisitions Unit Supervisor with additional work-related direction from the Metadata and Technical Services Department, the Acquisitions & E-Resources Processing Assistant performs paraprofessional duties based on general guidelines using knowledge of library principles and procedures. This position serves as lead assistant responsible for establishing resource records and initiating orders for all formats, particularly for monograph materials. This position will support the e-resources lifecycle in the library’s ILS and discovery system through e-resource processing, particularly in activation, access verification, and in supporting related licensing and usage statistics data management.


This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter and will be required to complete trainings and comply with CANRA. Must pass FBI/Department of Justice background check. The budgeted salary amount for this position is up to $68,799.60.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. Minimum two years experience working in a library environment. Required
Experience in cataloging and working with MARC 21 formats and/or RDA descriptive cataloging standards. Preferred
Experience with Ex Libris?s Alma and Primo Library Service Platform. Preferred
Experience with e-resource management. Preferred
Experiences in serials management in all formats. Preferred
Experience working in technical services for an academic library. Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge of metadata standards.
Accuracy and attention to detail in following guidelines and procedures, completing forms, entering data, and other processes.
Knowledge of serials and resource holdings and/or entitlement (or coverage) statements.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to compose correspondence (in appropriate, grammatical standard English) with vendors and others.
Knowledge of integrated library systems.
