Position Information

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Recruitment and Evaluation, this position has responsibilities for project coordination and leadership in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and will provide evaluation, implementation, updates and reporting related to recruited freshman and transfer athletes. The Evaluation Specialist is responsible for the evaluation and tracking of prospective, admitted, and SIRd athletes and serves as the central point of contact between Undergraduate Admissions and Intercollegiate Athletics during the recruitment and admission process. This position supports a shared responsibility with Intercollegiate Athletics that if not properly controlled or completed could result in significant negative media reports and financial penalties for UC Riverside. In addition to the above duties, the Evaluation Specialist may represent UCR Undergraduate Admissions by providing oversight at various programs and events, participating in school visits, college fairs, consortium travel, and conferences for both the freshman and transfer population. As an official representative of the University, the incumbent will be available to students, families, the campus community, and the general public to interpret, enforce and explain University policies and regulations. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for all phases of admission evaluation and validation of transfer applicants and a small caseload of freshman applicants based on self-reported information, official transcripts, and other pertinent documents.

BUDGET: Budgeted salary range for this position is (min) $56,800.00 - (1st quartile) $67,400.00.

4 - 7 years of related experience. Required
Demonstrated undergraduate experience in: a) recruitment of prospective students; b) evaluating applications, transcripts, and supplemental documentation; and c) making admission decisions on prospective applicants to include full consideration of academic records and subjective criteria. Required

Minimum Requirements

General knowledge of curricula, articulation, transcripts and grading systems for high schools and two and four-year institutions.
Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
Ability to interact diplomatically with faculty, administrators, staff and individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, organizational levels, and groups with different goals
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing by organizing and delivering oral presentations that are concise, informative and appropriate to the audience while maintaining an appropriate University image.
Ability to work independently while using sound judgment in applying, or developing solutions to problems.
Ability to interpret policies and procedures to prospective students and the public.
Ability to develop recruitment programs, and design effective materials.
Ability to be flexible and capable of dealing with change, ambiguity and seemingly contradictory or inconsistent policies.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and other institutions.
Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs, at colleges/universities and specifically at UC, and/or specific colleges and schools.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate statistical data and policy.
