AAPI Data Deputy Director

Position Information

The AAPI Data project at the University of California, Riverside seeks a Deputy Director who works in close coordination with the co-directors, senior researchers, staff of AAPI Data, as well as partners that include community organizations, research centers, government agencies, private philanthropy, and news organizations. The Deputy Director is responsible for coordinating operations, designing strategic plans that include fundraising, budgeting, personnel allocation, and supervising the work of staff engaged in a variety of projects and initiatives. The Deputy Director is expected to have excellent communication skills, including drafting reports and press releases. The Deputy Director is also expected to demonstrate excellent project management skills, possess a track record of overseeing multiple streams of work, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. A strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines are required. This is a two-year contract position, with renewal based on performance and the availability of additional funding. The budgeted hiring range for this position is up to approximately $125,000, based on skills, training, and experience. This position is eligible for hybrid or remote work. Work samples will be requested of all shortlisted candidates.

Therefore, this position is currently posted as an AAPI Data Deputy Director 3 (Academic Program Management Officer 3 / ID #28690662) and/or AAPI Data Deputy Director 4 (Academic Program Management Officer 4 / ID #28931648). Degree Requirement
Advanced degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Terminal degree in a related field (PhD, JD, MD, etc.). Preferred
Master's degree or other terminal degree, or significant program administration experience, in public policy, the social sciences, or related fields. Preferred

Experience

Experience Requirement
4 - 7 years of related experience. Required
2 years as a researcher or program manager in a related field and a demonstrated record of working with non-academic partners. Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.
Thorough knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices.
Ability to multi-task with demanding time frames.
Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.
Solid fundraising experience.
Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.

Preferred Qualifications

Academic background and experience in selected area of research.
