Position Information

Under the supervision of the Financial Operation Manager, provides high-level administrative and technical support for contract and grant application process and post-award fund administration for assigned Principle Investigators within the departments of Biochemistry, Microbiology & Plant Pathology and Nematology. Will be responsible for proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires a thorough understanding of complex regulations. Perform high-level budget/resource analyses and prepare monthly financial reports for principal investigators utilizing campus financial systems. Track and reconcile expenses for extramural and other fund sources maintaining fiscal integrity and internal controls. Applies professional concepts to provide projections and analyze spending and proactively resolve issues. The budgeting hiring range for this position is $56,800 - $75,000.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Writing skills to draft persuasive text for variety of audiences.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization; communication skills; and a customer service focus.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Ability to manage a high volume of transactions.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of UC Policies and procedures and on-line campus financial systems.

Knowledge of UC Systemwide and campus Contracts and Grants policies and procedures.
