Position Information

The Conflict of Interest (COI) Manager serves as campus expert in all matters related to Conflict of Interest (COI). Provides training and guidance to Committee members and research faculty. Ensures procedures adhere to regulatory requirements while also designing processes to facilitate and assist faculty in completing required activities. Implements changes and ensures program is meeting regulatory obligations. Manages all aspects of Committee business. Identifies issues, analyzes strategies and implements Committee decisions through both regular Committee procedures and in collaboration with other Campus units. Identifies need for new/revised policy for committee consideration and provides guidance on regulatory impact during committee discussion of policy issues. Addresses and resolves complex issues through thorough analysis of all variables in a manner that ensures compliance, promotes Campus objectives and supports individual research programs. Provides leadership in related issues for Campus-wide projects, such as facilities development, hiring and other projects of critical importance to the Campus. Collaborates with UCOP and workgroups to develop system-wide policy, providing guidance to colleagues. Consults with federal regulatory agencies regarding regulatory compliance issues, as well as proposed improvements to Campus processes.

Some aspects of this position may be performed remotely. The budgeted pay scale for this position is from $93,400 up to $135,300. The salary offer will be commensurate with the final candidate's related education and experience.

Minimum Requirements

Demonstrated self-discipline and independent judgment completing highly complex, broadly defined assignments.
Expert knowledge and ability to apply all of the Federal, state, system and university regulations, policies and federal guidance documents.
Ability to lead and mentor others.
Expert knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design; scientific research concepts and terminology.
Demonstrated proficiency in public speaking, and writing.
Ability to resolve conflicts in a timely basis.
Ability to interact verbally and in writing with faculty with professionalism and decorum.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to identify the need for expansion/improvement in policy, process and procedure, and to analyze, develop and promote the necessary change.
