Reporting to the Assistant Director of Campus Planning for Planning, Design & Construction (PD&C), the Campus Planner provides campus planning professional services for program and project development and continuance of the organization's programs such as the capital financial plan, deferred maintenance program, seismic safety program, and accessibility program including responsibility for collection, analysis, and evaluation of planning data and preparation and presentation of statistical and graphic supporting material. Provides staff planning services and planning analyses for major physical planning and capital project studies, and studies related to campus-wide site development, infrastructure, and utilities. Lead project planning teams and discussions using written, verbal and interpersonal skills effectively for a wide variety of audiences. Assists in the review, input, and monitoring related to project schedules and funding. Improves organization practices and processes using thorough knowledge in urban planning and integrated higher education planning.

*The full salary range for the Campus Planner is $76,000.00 - $139,600.00 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $96,000 annually. *

Education

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Advanced degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, City Planning or other planning or environmental related field. Preferred

Experience

Experience Requirement
Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Required
Experience with Windows-based productivity software, including word-processing, spreadsheets. Required

Special Conditions

Special Condition Requirement
Occasional in state travel for training, typically conducted at UC Office of the President or other UC campuses. Required
Periodic in-state or out-of-state travel for professional development. Required
Travel Outside of Normal Business Hours Required
Travel to other U.C. campuses or U.C. Office of the President occasionally for business meetings and workshops. Assess a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces common at major research universities, such as research, instruction and agriculture. Required

Minimum Requirements

Ability to physically inventory and analyze a variety of research university space with varying types of research environments.
Strong analytical skills.
Thorough working knowledge/skill in city planning, architecture, or other planning-related fields.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to understand and interpret land use plans, master plans, open space plans, schematic design drawings, and working drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of University of California Guidelines and Policies for planning, capital programs, and major system wide initiatives, such as sustainable practices, carbon neutrality, zero waste, and accessibility.

Knowledge of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

Thorough knowledge of the organization, including its architectural history, short and long range development plans, infrastructure and current, on-going and proposed design and construction plans.

Familiar with LEED or LEED Certified
