Department Custom Scope
The Director of Media Relations is a key leadership position within the Office of Strategic Communications, requiring a minimum eight years of communications experience, at least a bachelor's degree and ability to travel. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Strategic Communications, the Director of Media Relations maintains and expands the university's contacts with local, statewide and national media, supervises public information representatives and advises faculty, staff and administration on issues related to media coverage. |

Develops news communications strategies and ensures responsive, professional and effective news operations for the campus. Plans, develops, implements daily and long-term operations of the media unit, including programs, personnel, and budget management. Follows national and international trends in higher education as well as those within the UC system and creates long-term, substantive media outreach for UC Riverside, its administration, faculty, staff, students and community. | 35 |
