Custom Scope
Using advanced fundraising concepts a, plans, organizes, and directs complex large-scale fundraising campaigns which include multiple components. Results have major impact on overall program goals and assignments and are typically at the major gifts or corporate / foundation relations level, including managing portfolios of donors capable of giving gifts of an agreed upon amount. May oversee work of professional and / or subordinate staff. May attend functions, meetings and serve on internal/external committees as a campus and / or medical center representative. Position is expected to raise gift dollar amounts as established at each specialization.

Department Custom Scope
Under the leadership of the Associate Vice Chancellor for University Development and directly reporting to the Director of Development for Campus-Wide Initiatives, the Director of Development, Student Success will be a front-line fundraiser responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive fundraising programs that will generate private support for campus-wide initiatives. This position's initial focus will be to raise private support for student success: scholarships, fellowships, and programs/areas that enhance the overall student experience at UC Riverside (UCR).

Key Responsibilities

Develops and manages dynamic portfolio to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects for gifts in the agreed upon range. May include corporate and foundation prospects.

Evaluates programs using financial feasibility studies and market research, including planning and evaluating annual solicitation programs and making recommendations for improvements.

Ensures that predetermined fundraising goals are met. Incumbent will build, grow and manage an individual portfolio of prospective donors capable of giving at the major gift level of $25,000 or more to UCR. Responsible for having a comprehensive understanding of university priorities, and regularly meeting with prospective donors and university supporters (with a focus on face-to-face visits), and working collaboratively with University Advancement colleagues and academic partners to achieve fundraising goals. Responsible for preparing briefing materials and gift proposals, attending events, and staffing and/or supervising projects as assigned. Utilizing a high level of professionalism the DOD will work closely with institutional leadership such as college deans, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, and the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education.

Proven success at fundraising by developing and implementing strategic plans that incorporate a concise definition of goals, targeted audiences, and strategies in-line with institution goals and closing gifts ($25,000+) from individuals, corporations, and foundations, both local and national. Required
Experience supporting capital or comprehensive campaigns in higher education. Preferred

Special Condition Requirement
Requires travel to multiple work sites, including meetings and events on and off campus and within the greater Los Angeles area. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required, as well as nontraditional work hours to accommodate evening and/or weekends that coincide with events and meetings. Required
