Custom Scope
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced, fundraising professional. Plans, schedules, and implements moderate-sized, comprehensive fundraising and alumni relations projects and programs, including specific fundraising programs such as annual fund, alumni relations, research, et cetera. May coordinate and oversee the work of support staff and/or other professionals. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Position is expected to raise gift dollar amounts as established at each fundraiser specialization.

Department Custom Scope
Under the direction of the Senior Director for Development, UCR School of Business the Assistant Director for Development, is responsible for management and implementation of activities including fundraising and stewardship events, development communications, gift processing, and data projects. The primary areas of responsibility include coordinating day-to-day operations associated with annual giving and major gift/campaign activities including managing timelines, budgets, gift administrations, prospect management, and special events. The incumbent will assist in the development initiatives aimed at growing a pipeline of leadership annual giving prospects, major gift fundraising and supporting the overall development efforts of the University.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Plans, schedules, and implements fundraising and alumni relations projects and program, including specific fundraising programs such as annual fund, alumni relations, search, et cetera.
  • Independently compose correspondence, proofread, and edit drafts for correct terminology, grammar, punctuation, spelling, format, content, and style for email, letters, talking points, webpages and other publication text. Assist in writing and proofreading correspondence, reports, proposals, and other publications as requested.

Identifies, cultivates, solicits and/or stewards donors.
  • Devise and oversee the implementation of personalized methods for recognizing and maintaining ongoing contact with current/past donors to ensure donor retention. Maintain donor data with the highest regard for confidentiality and detail using Raisers's Edge software. Develop detailed gift opportunities tailored to the interests of potential donors. Encourage the active participation of donors and volunteers.

Provides analysis and information of complex results or activities, and makes recommendations to upper management for program changes or development of new programs as required.

Ensures that predetermined fundraising goals are met. Participates in short and long-range strategic planning. Work with central annual giving staff and the College development team to plan, monitor and evaluate an annual giving program to support the priorities of the College. Assist with development related University and College event planning and implementation. Attend University events and appropriate programs.
