Department Custom Scope
In consultation with the Associate Executive Director, the Director of Parent & Scholarship Programs is responsible for developing and directing a comprehensive program to actively engage UCR parents and Alumni Association scholarship committees to advance University Advancement objectives in support of UCR. Identify, conceptualize, plan and implement new programs that strengthen relationships and help to build a culture of philanthropy through engagement. Manage, develop and grow the Parents Association and the University of California, Riverside Alumni Association (UCRAA) administered scholarship programs. Incumbent also will participate in other UCRAA programming as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

Develops and implements programs, events and/or communication strategies designed to inform alumni and other key constituencies of institutional programs, activities, policies, and practices; constituencies may include the general public, prospective students, students, alumni, parents, donors, campus visitors, government and/or community representatives,.
  • Develop goals, objectives, and metrics for each program to ensure that the program meets the goals and falls within the mission of University Advancement. Responsible for formulating, securing appropriate approval, and executing a detailed action plan for each event to ensure that it achieves the agreed upon goals and objectives. Evaluate programs for their effectiveness and impact on the university and the community and make sound recommendations for changes and/or enhancements.

May plan, implement and staff alumni events, identify recruits and assist with volunteers.
  • Enlist and involve volunteers as needed to augment and support UCRAA programs. Responsible for providing background material about the program and for drafting remarks for administrators and volunteers based upon goals and objectives of the program.

May research various topics and gather relevant data to inform unit strategic plans, keeping management informed as necessary and providing input as required.

Responds to constituent inquiries.
  • Respond to inquiries from various constituencies regarding volunteer opportunities. Research projects and implement programs as assigned by the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Alumni & Constituent Relations. Serve as the coordinator for alumni related activities at the Alumni & Visitors Center.

Parents Association-Responsible for developing strategies, planning/implementing, and analyzing a year-round schedule of programs and events for parent members, prospective members and guests. Manage the planning and execution of the UCR Parents Association within budgetary constraints, including execution of quarterly meetings, Parent of the Year Award, parent volunteer opportunities (e.g., student recruitment events, commencement, summer orientations). Scholarship Program-Manage the UCR Alumni Association Scholarship Program which includes the administration of Alumni Association scholarships and all other scholarships administered by the Alumni Association. Provide staff support to the scholarship selection committees of the UCRAA Board of Directors. Serve as primary liaison to scholarship recipients. As appropriate, assist in donor stewardship. Homecoming and Parent and Family Day-Develop programming, timelines, and plans of action for parent activities during Homecoming. Manage budget, schedule facilities, and order all services/supplies to execute events. Arrange and implement all logistical arrangements for programs and events including site inspection, menu selection, entertainment, audio-visual, parking, directional signs, printing and recognition items.
