Department Custom Scope
The Digitization Project Coordinator is responsible for digitizing and providing access to the Sherman Indian Museum's collection of historical records, documents, and photographs. This position will oversee both on-site and outsourced digitization and will manage the ingest of digitized content and metadata into a digital asset management system (DAMS). This is a 2 year contract position. This position will start June 1, 2017 or shortly thereafter. This position will work off-site at the Sherman Indian Museum in Riverside.

American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master's Degree or equivalent experience or degree in one or more fields relevant to the position. Preferred

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Applies professional concepts to perform complex or innovative responsibilities in one or more library specialties.
  • Prepares material for digitization and assists with on-site digitization efforts. Prepares shipments and coordinates the transfer of material to the digitization vendor. Oversees efficient digital production workflows supporting the creation of digital objects and metadata that conform to nationally accepted standards. Performs quality control inspections on all digital objects and associated metadata.

Utilizes tools and databases to automate cataloging processes. Provides electronic catalog collection management services. Manages database batch file processing using a variety of programs and system tools.
  • Structures digital objects for online display and ingests content into a DAMS. Oversees and participates in the creation of new and transformation of existing metadata.

Has responsibility for oversight of daily work actives and training for project staff (student employees of the Sherman Indian Museum). May also include responsibility for work schedules.
