Department Custom Scope
Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC), the Development Coordinator will support the development office by overseeing day to day operations including; managing timelines and calendars, providing administrative support to the office, providing telephone and office coverage, managing incoming and outgoing correspondence and other development business processes. Incumbent will posses a high level of professionalism and diplomacy in interactions with donors, faculty, campus leadership and University Advancement Leadership Team.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Administers a defined operational program or activities which may include some of the following functions: finance, facilities, payroll, space planning, student services, human resources, communications, informational technology or safety.
  • Working with development officers, manage and progress and analytical data for assigned donor portfolios. Routinely compose correspondence, proofread and edit drafts for correct terminology, grammar, punctuation, spelling, format, content and style for projects such as meeting minutes, speakers' remarks and publication text.

Gathers and analyzes financial and other resource data; prepares reports or analyses of operational activities, evaluates current and proposed services, etc.
  • Analyze data from a variety of sources, including the fundraising and donor management database and targeted internet web research.

Functions as a resource on issues such as researching complex financial discrepancies, escalated customer service problems and vendor concerns.
  • Troubleshoot Development reimbursements, work with event venues to secure location and pricing and work with other vendors as necessary.

Develops and maintains budgets.
  • Participate in the planning of meetings, donor relations events and special events; estimating and tracking costs to ensure they are in line with the operating budget.

Manage calendars and schedules of two senior development staff and the Assistance Vice Chancellor of Development, ensuring they have materials and information for meetings. Arrange travel and reimbursement for above staff.

Professionally handle interactions with major gift prospects and donors through email and/or telephone, to schedule meetings, discuss issues and process requests in a courteous manner, using utmost tact and diplomacy.
