Custom Scope
Uses professional HR concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR-related issues. Works on problems that are diverse and complex in scope, where analysis of situations requires a review of a variety of factors. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day assignments with some guidance provided on new projects.

Department Custom Scope
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Administration, the University Advancement (UA) Human Resources Manager functions as the primary HR professional for UA. In this capacity, the incumbent provides organizational leadership in implementing, resolving and handling a full range of HR-related issues. This position develops communication methods to ensure management and staff across the organization are properly trained and oriented to human resource practices, processes, and procedures. Analyzes, formulates, and recommends personnel actions to the AVC.

Advises all levels of managers, supervisors, and employees in developing job descriptions, resolving benefits issues, and providing guidance on compensation programs, personnel policies and procedures.
  • Applies compensation concepts in the review of proposed salary adjustments for conformance to established guidelines, policies and practices. May develop recommendations regarding FLSA exemptions, job revisions, and organizational structures

Works with client groups on complex re-organizations and staffing objectives to assist in meeting business objectives.

Provides support to departments in administering policies and programs in the areas of employment, labor relations, wage and salary administration, training, and other areas of HR.

Prioritizes work assignments, conducts complex HR trends analyses and develops resulting recommendations.
  • May develop recommendations regarding FLSA exemptions, job revisions, and organizational structures. Participates in compensation surveys to collect and analyze competitive salary information to determine organization's competitive position.

In collaboration with the financial team, establishes and maintains personnel and recruitment files in accordance with policy and retention schedules.
