Department Custom Scope
Reporting to the Executive Director, Enterprise Risk Management, the Clery Act/ADA Compliance Coordinator works collaboratively with various units at UC Riverside, UCR Health and outside agencies to ensure the institution's compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the "Clery Act"), as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and other relevant federal and state laws and regulations. The Clery Act/ADA Compliance Coordinator oversees UC Riverside Clery Act and ADA compliance programs. This includes preparing the Annual Security Report, identifying and training "Campus Security Authorities", preparing the daily crime and fire log and identifying, analyzing and classifying crimes and disciplinary referrals. ADA compliance activities include serving as the Section 504 coordinator, monitoring compliance with state and federal regulations, educating, training, and guiding the University community, developing policies and procedures, and assuring that appropriate processes are in place.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Researches, monitors and analyzes regulations, legislation, research literature and UC policies for impact on the organization or initiative.
  • Serves as UC Riverside's ADA/Section 504 Coordinator. Monitors UCR's compliance with state and federal disabilities-related legislation and guidance an implements plans for improvement in collaboration with campus leadership. Assures appropriate processes are in place to respond to allegations of disability discrimination and non-compliance with federal and state law pertaining to individuals with disabilities.

Proposes, leads and/or participates on policy and planning committees and working groups. Provides strategy development for organizational or research initiative.
  • Establishes and coordinates the activities of the Clery Act Compliance Committee, which advises on management of the Clery act compliance program at UC Riverside. Coordinates, conducts, documents, and summarizes on-going meetings with all major UCR departments to ensure Clery Act compliance and tracks/follows up with all outstanding action items developed in such meetings.

  • Coordinates UC Riverside's comprehensive Clery Act compliance program. Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises UCR's Clery Act compliance policies and procedures to meet the Department of Education Clery requirements. Coordinates, prepares, verifies, publishes and distributes UCR's Annual Security & Fire Safety Report.

  • Provides guidance and assistance to campus departments in implementing accommodations and developing office practices with an emphasis on Universal Design. Provides coordination for disability related access and programming.

Coordinates implementation with cross-organizational departments or external entities as needed.
  • Works with all appropriate UCR departments to identify all Campus Security Authorities for UCR and maintains a master Campus Security Authority roster and email distribution list for each academic year. Provides, facilitates and manages the training of Campus Security Authorities. Conducts Clery Act training presentations in person to various sized audiences. Coordinates education and compliance efforts with the UC Office of the President with regards to ADA/Section 504 Compliance.

Researches and drafts complex proposals, reports, briefings, executive summaries, and speeches. Establishes and maintains contacts internally and with external constituents for the collection and exchange of data.
  • Provides reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested to keep management informed of the Clery compliance efforts. Coordinates with appropriate UCR departments to ensure compliance with HEA Fire Safety regulations. Assists with the establishment of Clery Act compliance programs at each of UCR's "separate campus" as defined by the Department of Education.

Analyzes and consolidates relevant data from all Campus Security Authorities, UCR Police department records system and other sources. Gathers crimes and disciplinary referral data from various internal and external sources including, but not limited to, various UCR departments, housing facilities and local law enforcement agencies. Submits annual crime statistics to the Department of Education as required.

Travels and/or participates as the representative of UC Riverside at meetings organized by the UC Office of the President (UCOP) Ethics Compliancec & Audit Services Department, as well as the representative of UC Riverside at Clery compliance training conferences/seminars.

Educates, trains, and guides the UC Riverside community in understanding disability access, rights, and responsibilities, including disseminating current policies and information reflecting best practices.
