Custom Scope
Serves as an expert or lead development professional in a specialized area such as major / principal gifts, gift planning or corporate / foundation relations, or a specific academic discipline such as Health Sciences which has an environment that includes, or potentially includes, donors capable of making very significant contributions to the campus and / or medical center. Maintains a portfolio of donor prospects that include the most influential, complex or highest rated donors. May maintain and manage portfolio(s) of senior campus leadership including the Chancellor and VCs. May have authority to make commitments and precedent-setting decisions regarding program design, development, and procedures. May oversee the work of professional and support staff. position is expected to raise gift dollar amounts as established at each fundraiser specialization.

Department Custom Scope
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Individual Giving and in close coordination with the Athletics Director, will be responsible for the conceptualization, planning, and implementation of a development and fundraising program that will result in the generation of private support including corporate, foundation, and individual major gifts for the program initiatives of UCR Intercollegiate Athletics. Develop a high profile for UCR Intercollegiate Athletics by enlisting the assistance of alumni, media relations, and marketing professionals. Develop detailed gift opportunities tailored towards the interest of potential major donors, consistent with established needs and priorities of the intercollegiate Athletics Department. Oversee the implementation of prospect cultivation and solicitation for assigned programs and priorities of the campus and the set by the Associate Vice Chancellor of Development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary staff to the Gift Planning Committee of the UCR Foundation Board of Trustees. Primary or secondary staff to the regional allied professionals affiliate volunteers.

The Associate Athletics Director, Development creates and implements the advancement program for UCR Intercollegiate Athletics. This includes programs designed to engage individuals, corporations, and foundations in efforts to meet priority needs of Intercollegiate Athletics, and to include teams of campus leaders and volunteers. The Associate Athletics Director advises the Athletics Director on defining and prioritizing advancement needs and in developing objectives for private support. The Associate Athletics Director develops appropriate strategies for involving the Athletics Director in building relationships with major gift donor prospects, and supports them and other campus leaders in highly tailored major gift meetings and proposals. The incumbent also advises the Athletics Director on appropriate volunteer structures for Intercollegiate Athletics. Informs the Athletics Director, coaches and senior staff regarding issues related to advancement; interprets trends, new policies, and opportunities, and recommends actions. From time to time, may serve on campus committees and workgroups. The incumbent represents Intercollegiate Athletics at campus-wide development activities and participates in campus-wide special advancement projects, campaigns, and policy initiatives. Has the responsibility to ensure that all advancement activites in Intercollegiate Athletics are conducted in accordance with UC Riverside and University of California policies and procedures.

Experience fundraising for a Division 1 athletics program. Preferred
