In consultation with the Director of Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement, the Program Manager of Student Relations is responsible for developing and directing a comprehensive program designed to increase student awareness and appreciation of maintaining a lifelong engagement with the university to advance University Advancement objectives in support of UCR.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
May research various topics and gather relevant data to inform unit strategic plans.
  • Major duties include organization of programs, meetings and events. Oversee logistics in preparation for events, and programs. Craft and distribute communications with various audiences, including students, alumni, and VIPs. Prepare general correspondence and meeting materials. Assist with marketing and promotional strategies. Other responsibilities include participating in committees and task forces; budget and financial administration; providing advice and counsel.

May coordinate meeting or events logistics between institutional, alumni and other outside constituencies. May plan alumni events
  • UCR Grad Fair; Homecoming, Highlander Day of Service & Parent and Family Day. -In coordination with various partners, assist in the promotion of the annual UCR Grad Fair for graduating students, lead planning in the development and implementation of Scot Fest. Assist in the development of plans of action as needed for Homecoming and Parent and Family Day. Develop programming, time lines, and plans of action for student activities during Highlander Day of Service.

Communications and Miscellaneous; Student Staff Supervision.Staff the Alumni Association Engagement Committee. Assist in the development and implementation of programs designed to engage alumni and students. Provide programmatic support for engagement events such as Convocation, Commencement, Chancellor's Dinner, Alumni Awards of Distinction, reunions, alumni clubs and chapters, and regional alumni events. Identify alumni for recognition programs and for features in various alumni media. Staff the UCRAA Alumni Engagement committee. Assist in the development of new initiatives and other programs as assigned. Hire, train and supervise students working in the Office of Alumni & Constituent Relations as necessary.

Alumni Engagement Co-sponsorship. -Manage the UCR Alumni Association Alumni Engagement co-sponsorship program. Serve as the primary liaison to the student organization in their event/program planning concerning event facilities and catering. Assist in alumni outreach where and as appropriate. Student Alumni Association (SAA). -Serve as the adviser to the Student Alumni Association (SAA).Recruit, train, and supervise a student leadership board consisting of current UCR student volunteers. Provide developmental leadership and management of the Student Alumni Association. Develop, implement, and manage short-term and long-range plans to establish a productive continuum of student, alumni, parent, donor, and prospective student engagement.
