Primarily deals with programs and proposals with broad impact across the function, research initiative, program and/or organization. Develops and oversees the implementation of new programs and processes.

Department Custom Scope
The Academic Personnel Policy Analyst has a dual responsibility for measured deliverables to the campus and serves as a campus level subject matter expert. The position reports to the Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Personnel, with dotted line reporting to the Vice Provost for Academic Personnel and the Data and Technology Manager. The position is customer focused, characterized by a high degree of collaboration and coordination. The Academic Personnel Policy Analyst functions as the primary contact to the campus for Academic Compensation related questions and issues. The position provides professional analysis and support for academic personnel processes (e.g academic personnel review, recruitment, appointments, etc.), and takes the lead on policy and communication implementation. This position serves as the liaison and primary contact for designated organizational units on the campus. It is responsible for utilizing tools to assess, anticipate and respond to organizational AP-related needs of the assigned customer base. The Academic Personnel Policy Analyst partners with the Academic Personnel Office team at large to deliver programs, initiatives, and to proactively plan and improve services. The position formulates partnerships across the campus to deliver AP services that reflect the strategic objectives and goals of the University, APO and the designated organizational units.

Key Responsibilities

Leads efforts to conduct highly complex analyses across a broad spectrum of programs, policies and initiatives or provides in-depth, complex analyses as a specialist in one policy field.
  • Advises and coordinates processes and procedures for a variety of sub-units; this includes acting as advisor to other Academic HR specialists, and serving as lead within the department. Serves as the Policy Implementation Lead for the Academic Personnel Office, working with UC System and UC Campus constituents and partners. Provides complex analytical studies regarding policies, programs and academic compensation.

Develops and coordinates policy or program communications; formulates strategies for education and enforcement.
  • Serves as the program, policy, and procedures communications lead for the Academic Personnel Office. Catalogs and manages important policy documents, communications, reports, presentations, and datasets.

Develops and advocates solutions to organizational or research program issues, including developing and administering new systems, policies, processes, or programs.

Provides analyses for complex budget, funding, financial, or academic data, systems and resource projects working directly with internal and external constituents.
  • Serves as the coordination and facilitation lead for the implementation of academic compensation projects. Provides analysis and reporting for and may assist with the review of Academic Merit and Promotion Files.
