Department Custom Scope
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Competitive Sports, The Competitive Sports Coordinator's primary responsibilities include: 1) Assist in the daily operations of Intramural Sports and Sports Club programs 2) Assist with the supervision and management of Intramural Fields. The Competitive Sports Coordinator contributes to the departmental and program goals by managing the day-to-day operations of the Intramural Sports and Sports club programs and assisting the Assistant Recreation Director Competitive Sports with all other aspects of the program portfolio. The Competitive Sports Coordinator works collaboratively with all Recreation staff and other UCR departments to provide related services and programming to all members of the campus community. The Coordinator will also assist in developing relationships with other local universities to develop extramural events. |

Sport Club: Assist in the developmental, coordination, and evaluation of a comprehensive Sport Club program to include team, dual, and individual sports leagues, tournaments, special events, and conferences. Assist in the coordination of Club Sports travel for local, regional, and national trips; travel with teams as needed. Continue to grow the Competitive Sports program. Prepare and lead captain meetings for team sports. Assess programs and services related to program operations, participation numbers, and participant satisfaction and learning through IM Leagues software. Implement improvements in programs and services. Assist with management of the Competitive Sports budget of over $180,000 in accordance with university and departmental policies. Research and recommend purchasing equipment and supplies. Intramural Sports: Assist with supervision of Intramural Sports program. Assist in the coordination of schedule requests for practices, meets, tournaments and events for Intramural Sports. All other duties assigned. | 20 |
Staff supervision and Administration: Assist in the onsite supervision of events and activities at multiple Competitive Sports Fields. Assist in the daily supervision of (50-75) student employees working as Sport Club Managers and Officials. Provides ongoing training and development of student employees working in Competitive Sports. Provide initial training and constructive feedback utilizing a multi-media approach. Encourage and support professional development opportunities for student staff including training programs, professional association involvement, research, conferences, and individual mentoring. Participate on various committees within and outside of UCR. | 20 |
