Department Custom Scope
UC Riverside is seeking an experienced editor and writer to oversee editorial content of its numerous internal communication pieces. Reporting to the director of news and information, the incumbent will dedicate a large amount of time to editing, managing content, writing story briefs and taking photos to accompany internal news stories. The position works closely with media relations as well as a variety of campus departments and organizations.

Assists in gathering and preparing news/information about the location and its programs for dissemination through the media, internet and relevant institutional components.

Conducts routine interviews to gather information and writes basic materials such as simple news releases, routine statements, and brief articles for internal and external audiences.

Suggests stories of potential interest to management and to news media.

Researches, develops, and maintains media distribution lists and identifies/targets appropriate distribution audiences; coordinates and prepares distributions.

Compiles and maintains files of clippings and/or records of media placements including location information such as photographs, statistics, and reports; distributes to interested parties.

Accommodates media presence on site and prepares, assembles and distributes media packets, background information and fact sheets.

Maintains strict confidentiality.

Manage content and populate - design digital templates for internal digital newsletter.
