Generic Scope
Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of operational or technical employees. A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the unit; however, supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or organizational policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Ensures accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.

Custom Scope
Provides supervision to Student Services Assistants ensuring that procedural guidance to students is timely and accurate. Directs subordinates to guidelines, procedures, and processes.

Department Custom Scope
Under the direction of the Associate Director of International Education Programs, the Manager of International Student Services is responsible for the management and development of the International Student Services unit, inclusive of the IEP Homestay Program (400 local participating families), the residential education program at International Village Apartments (300 beds/2 buildings), the Transportation and Cultural Liaison Office (15 part-time drivers), and the Activities Office, all serving up to 5,000 international students per year. This position is responsible for revenue generation through housing occupancy, excursions and transportation services; comprehensive student life programming inclusive of social and cultural activities, co-curricular conversation programs, service-learning programs and other activities that support custom programs and the general student population. The position is responsible for development and performance management of staff, overseeing daily administrative operations; student advising on matters of student life, adjustment, and health insurance; and leadership on crisis management, conflict resolution.

  • Directly supervises and manages performance and development for Residence Life Coordinator, Transportation Coordinator, Homestay Program Coordinator, Homestay Program Assistant and Student Life Assistant. Indirectly supervises Community Assistants, student employees, and Driver pool.

  • Addresses and advises performance issues swiftly. Encourages and establishes achievable performance goals with unit employees. Provides formal performance feedback and evaluation.

Provides training to subordinates.
  • Responsible for ensuring ongoing training and development of full-time and and part-time employees, including residential staff, student employees, interns, and volunteers.

Provides guidance and direction on most complex operational issues and problems.
  • Responsible for effective management of the following programs, their personnel and resources: student activities, transportation, homestay, and residential life. Provides leadership for international student orientations, community development, student conduct, risk reduction and crisis management; budget and administrative responsibilities to include revenue generation; marketing via social media and promotions; and collaboration with service providers, campus resources and community partners.
