Department Custom Scope
Under the direction of the Executive Director for Marketing and Creative Services, this position manages all University Advancement alumni marketing communications from concept through delivery. The Alumni Communications Manager is responsible for identifying, creating, and managing strategies and content to communicate with UC Riverside's 110,000 alumni. The incumbent will be accountable for the strong alignment of the UC Riverside brand with alumni, through managing alumni-facing communications channels, and managing communications and marketing projects designed to enhance the UC Riverside alumni experience. S/he will also be responsible for maintaining and updating the marketing and communications channels designed to inform, engage, and connect alumni. In addition, this position will collaborate with the Office of Alumni and Constituent Relations to support high-priority events, including Homecoming, to enhance the alumni experience. This position will acquire and advance a comprehensive understanding of UC Riverside's values, goals, history, brand attributes, strategic positioning, traditions, student body, faculty, staff and administration, and alumni to successfully increase alumni engagement and philanthropic giving to support University endeavors and goals. As a member of the University Communications team, this position will partner with colleagues in content development, creative services, media relations, digital marketing, and video production to deliver top-tier marketing and communications resources to all UC Riverside alumni.

Develops and executes a strategic communications plan and calendar to engage, inform and connect alumni, students, parents and other constituents to the university's mission and alumni/advancement priorities. Develop content, design, create, and maintain a dynamic alumni website highlighting alumni programming, initiatives, and events. Serve as a liaison between University Communications and Alumni and Constituent Relations on project requests, Class Acts, alumni profiles, and promotional materials. Ensure accurate and timely information is highlighted on alumni and constituency websites. Establish guidelines for design continuity. Produce e-newsletters for alumni and parents and schedule email distribution. Conceptualize, write, edit and manage content and event announcements for e-newsletters, print publications, and multi-media projects. Maintain contact with colleagues in the colleges, departments and centers to obtain relevant information to highlight alumni achievements and promote UCR initiatives through social media, online presence, and e-newsletter.

Helps manage various social media forums including: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. Develop and execute planned social media campaigns. Identify social media best practices. Write copy and accept submissions from alumni staff to post relevant information to Alumni blog, website and social media platforms. Collaborate with the Annual Fund on the coordination of posts and messaging. Liaison to social media vendors, designers, and programmers.

Develop annual communications budget. Assist in staffing campus-wide events such as Commencement and Homecoming. Coordinate video projects with University Communications and assist with the technical aspects of presentations.
