Department Custom Scope
The University Innovation Alliance (UIA) is a national consortium of 11 large public research universities working together to improve outcomes for all students regardless of their socioeconomic status. The UIA is designed, organized, and led by our member institutions' presidents and chancellors. Together, we draw from every region in the country and span the spectrum of U.S. public research universities, from emergent institutions to land grant universities and state flagships. The UIA's primary objective is to improve student outcomes by serving as the driving force that facilitates and tests new initiatives, sharing data, and scales best practices across the Alliance and beyond. Taking a new approach to meet the future needs of our nation by working together and sharing our research for serving those students who struggle in the lower percentile of graduation, higher financial need, and advising. It is the commitment of each member institution to ensure that students are given every opportunity to achieve academic and career success. The UIA's newest project, Bridging the Gap from Education to Employment (BGEE), will leverage the expertise of UIA institutions and business leaders to 1) reimagine the means by which graduates communicate marketable job skills, 2) capture best practices for building and maintaining strategic University-employer partnerships, and 3) enhance campus career services to meet the unique needs of all students. The University Innovation Alliance BGEE Fellowship is a full-time position funded through December 2020, to work on the objectives and outcomes of the BGEE project. The fellow will be located at UC Riverside (UCR) and will coordinate the BGEE project for UCR, Arizona State University, and Oregon State University. Two other fellows will be located at other UIA campuses and will have similar regional roles. Each fellow will support the campuses within their geographic scope to meet the requirements of the grant. Responsibilities include data collection, campus and BGEE session planning and activity development, and design thinking session support. |
