Department Custom Scope
Oversees the office of assessment and evaluation (OAE) quality improvement (QI) consultation in conjunction with the Associate Dean and the Director-OAE. Manages data processing, including generating and cataloging OAE reports and institutional related research data.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Researches, gathers, analyzes and summarizes information for basic data research projects.
  • Supervise and engage in QI consultation to include assessment and evaluation initiatives that require development and implementation of customized comprehensive data processing and study design including: collecting, coding, standardizing, organizing, tracking, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting. Effectively facilitate planning discussions and group processes around assessment, strategic planning, and strategic projects in line with departments, divisions and university missions, visions, values and initiatives.

  • Lead and cultivate a culture of outcome-based assessment, data- driven decision- making, student- focused research and assessment competency development. Guide the development and implementation of a comprehensive assessment plan. Develop management and clearinghouse for assessment, data-collection and research conducted within UCR SOM; including coordination, design, review, approval, interpreting, and reporting efforts.

Able to synthesize issues and present them in a creative and non-technical manner.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify assessment opportunities, establish an assessment plan, and to distribute/present. Track and plan to address continuous staff improvement. Utilize software, technology and data visualization tools to distill data into user- friendly formats to support data- driven decisions. Develop and implement technical solutions to streamline processes to improve efficiency.

Helps develop systems that manage, store and retrieve data for analysis to answer ad hoc informational requests and tracking of students and faculty.
  • Coordinate effective research design, methodology, qualitative/quantitative analysis, and statistical analysis to obtain valid and reliable data for measuring student learning, satisfaction and program effectiveness. Coordinate OAE divisional co-curricular assessment and annual reporting. Design assessment/research to develop and increase knowledge about student progress. Support the ongoing development, review, and evaluation of a residential curriculum.

Coordinate the Women of Color & Allies in Research and Medicine pipeline program. Duties include: Coordinate and support meetings with members and leadership to best assess upcoming events and requirements; assess and communicate the significance of events and collaborations; track and store participant data; and work with program leads to best insure the success of the program including outreach activities, collaboration efforts and potential funding/ sustainability.

Cultivate partnerships with the Office of Institutional Research and Planning to ensure efforts are in line with best practices. Collaborate with marketing (Strategic Initiatives) to meet needs they have for stakeholders including quarterly reports and end of year assessments (or any items related to specific impacts they are interested in).

Collaborate on major events including the annual quality improvement conference, OAE retreat and HRSA retreat. Coordinate venue allocation and contractual agreements, invites and RSVP management, room assignments and scheduling, web presence, marketing and outreach, judge and volunteer participation and post event wrap up reports.

Financials: Coordinate reimbursements, purchases and professional development transactions for submittal to the business operations department. Maintaining expense reports to track and summarize project feasibility, scalability, cost effectiveness and sustainability for future events. Monitor spending out of the office and the HRSA budget to compile expenditure reports per event and term.
