Custom Scope
Researches, writes, and edits materials for broadcast of non-complex factual, news and current affairs programs for television, radio and the Internet. Receives instructions and close review on new or unusual programs.

Department Custom Scope
University Communications provides campus leadership in planning, coordinating and implementing communications programs that foster increased awareness, understanding, and support of UC Riverside's mission, vision, accomplishments, and needs among its many internal and external constituencies. Under direction, the video production specialist will shoot, edit, and create graphics for high-quality video projects to be distributed via the UC Riverside website and social media. This position works closely with the marketing, creative design, and media relations units. Please note, applicants may be required to submit a work sample as part of the selection process.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Researches, writes and edits basic and/or non-complex material for broadcast for a variety of programming for broadcast.
  • Use Adobe Premiere CC to edit video projects from start to finish. Use a variety of techniques to clean up and improve video and audio for effect and comprehension. Help maintain digital asset organization on media server. Use Adobe After Effects and/or Premiere to create motion graphics, titles, animations, and special effects. Distribute final content on UC Riverside's official YouTube channel, Facebook, Instagram, UCR.edu, and/or share with campus partners.

May consult with user to assess details such as appropriate medium.
  • Work with faculty or News and Information staff to craft research-focused video content or animations for YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram.

Creates and produces routine multimedia-related production tasks.
  • Setup, operate, break down, and help maintain HD/4K Canon cameras, tripods, professional lighting, audio, grip, and other production equipment.

May assist in marketing and/or fundraising events.
  • Edit and polish projects for display on campus, at regional alumni events, and/or for donor pitch sessions.

May be responsible for program scheduling and/or reporting.
  • Setup and monitor live streaming for YouTube and other social platforms, as needed. Reliably communicate status updates for assignments, which might include time spent . May assist with monthly YouTube analytics reporting

Working either independently or as part of a team, the Video Production Specialist will shoot, edit, and polish high-level video content for inspiring pride, commitment, and investment in UC Riverside.

Research film/video industry trends and build a repertoire of post-production techniques.
