Department Custom Scope
The Reporting Financial Analyst will assist in providing data analysis and reporting to the School of Medicine. The role is to turn data into information - to be able to access, analyze and present reporting information from operational, financial, clinical and/or industry data sources to help guide decision-making for the school. The incumbent will be responsible for complex financial analytics and providing monthly and/or AdHoc reports as needed. Additionally, the Analyst will demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques in providing accurate reports.

  • Assist Forecasting and Analytics Financial Analyst with providing high level of information gathering, analysis, and recommendations to the SOM leadership.

Provides analytical support for complex budget, financial, or resource analysis projects.
  • Communicate and analyze financial reporting needs with SOM constituents. Provide support in production of financial reports.

Provides department support in the areas of business process analysis and design, system or procedure testing and implementation, documentation, security, workflow, and customer feedback.

Coordinates and implements department budget allocations, conceives of and maintains department chart of accounts or other data management tools, and related business processes.
  • Review and provide recommendations on department chart of accounts/Full Accounting Unit (FAU).

Gathers information, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial and/or resource plans, including annual resource allocation approaches, trended future requirements, operating forecasts, sources and uses, etc. Examples include generating, modifying, and conceiving of new financial or other resource reports, or analyzing and forecasting staff/faculty salary budgets, contracts, grants, gifts, endowments, or user fees.
  • Support and maintains the preparation of various monthly financial reports and accounting data for use by management, campus groups, UC Office of the President, Office of General Counsel, external groups and auditors. Assists in the coordination, organization and execution of quantitative and qualitative analyses such as operations management, business case development, and business intelligence dashboards. Develops and maintains forecasting models for capital and operating budgets.
