Department Custom Scope
The Institutional Research Analyst 3 uses data techniques and organizational objectives to analyze data and issues. The analyst has knowledge of the overall field of institutional research and experience in data collection, data management, analysis, and presentation. This position includes analytical studies and reporting on data related to students, academic and non-academic employees, budget, and space. May respond to informational and compliance requests from external agencies.

Researches, gathers, analyzes and summarizes information for complex data research projects.
  • This includes collection and analysis of large amounts of institutional data.

  • Develop materials for general campus consumption that share methodologies and key findings of the office's research.

Designs and establishes systems that manage, store and retrieve data for analysis to answer ad hoc informational requests and tracking of students and faculty.
  • Uses data to run ad hoc reports. Ensures data integrity through working with staff to validate and retrieve data. Develops and executes processes to ensure recurring reports are standardized and updated.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirement
Requires general knowledge in data collection and analysis techniques; statistics or social science research techniques; knowledge of common organization-specific computer application programs; knowledge of organizational principles and procedures involved in handling sensitive data (for example, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA). Required
