Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research compliance professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organization policies/procedures to apply federal, state, and university regulations, policies, and guidelines, and promote best practices. Interacts frequently with investigators, persons in other organizational departments, and occasionally persons outside the University. Interactions require the use of tact and independent judgment, knowledge of standards and best practices, and counseling to resolve a wide range of research compliance issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.Errors or omissions may ultimately place research participant at undo risk and/or compromise the institution's assurance of regulatory compliance with the federal government.

Department Custom Scope
UCR's Office of Research Integrity (ORI) promotes the highest standards of research excellence and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations. This position is responsible for providing support and leadership to various research compliance areas covered by the ORI. The Research Integrity Analyst will be the primary contact for several compliance committees [Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Stem Cell Research Oversight (SCRO), Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC)) and provide back up for others (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)]. The Research Integrity Analyst will serve as a resource to faculty, make sure that federal and state laws, as well as UC policy, are applied correctly. The Research Integrity Analyst will steward several committees and work closely with faculty to ensure that research is done ethically. This position also interacts with a variety of campus and system-wide offices to facilitate the management, administration and conduct of research.

Reviews complex research protocols wh en applying federal regulations, state regulations, and University policies to ensure and document compliance.

Provides guidance on preparing and revising research applications.
  • Develops the post-approval monitoring program for IACUC and IBC with relevant offices' and committees' input and guidance.

Communicates with researchers and provides guidance on how to resolve particular issues and meet requirements of external regulatory bodies, and properly documents these actions in accordance with all applicable la ws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Trains individuals and departments on relevant compliance processes, forms and policies.

Applies research compliance professional concepts to review and pre-review complex research protocols, as well as documentation of research.

Working with others in the office, provides administrative support and leadership for research compliance committees (Institutional biosafety committee, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee), as well as other committees that are not as active (SCRO, DURC). Provides in-depth review of assigned grant awards and MTA's to ensure compliance, and assists investigators when protocol modifications are needed to address grant and MTA issues.

Provides assistance and support during the research misconduct process. Works on policy, procedures, educational outreach and implementation of the process for the campus. Participates in UC-systemwide calls to ensure that office is up to date on current best practices.

Provides committee support including meeting coordination, maintenance of committee records, coordination of review process, tracking of required updates and renewals, and database management.
