Using advanced fundraising concepts, plans, organizes, and directs complex large-scale fundraising campaigns which include multiple components. Results have major impact on overall program goals and assignments and are typically at the "major gifts" or "corporate/foundation relations" level, including managing portfolios of donors capable of giving gifts of an agreed upon amount. May oversee work of professional and/or subordinate staff. May attend functions, meetings and serve on internal/external committees as a location representative. Position is expected to raise gift dollar amounts as established at each specialization. |
Department Custom Scope
Under the leadership of and reporting directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development, UC Riverside seeks a motivated, energetic, innovative, collaborative, and knowledgeable fundraiser to assume the position of director of development (DoD) for Student Success programs. The individual in this position will develop and execute long-and short-term strategies to grow the philanthropic pipeline and secure major gifts ($25,000 and above) in support of UC Riverside's undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. UC Riverside is committed to providing financial resources and an outstanding education to the bright, dynamic students who have worked hard to gain admission. Primary areas of focus for the DoD will be scholarships, endowments, and endowed graduate student fellowships. The DoD will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of approximately 150 prospective and current donors and will have some local and regional travel. The DoD will arrange appropriate opportunities for key faculty, researchers, and academic leaders to meet with potential donors, and work collaboratively with other University Advancement development officers to achieve fundraising goals. The DoD will be instrumental in planning and executive the Student Success fundraising strategy as part of UC Riverside's $300 million comprehensive campaign, which will run through 2020. |

Ensures that predetermined fundraising goals are met. Incumbent will build, grow and manage an individual portfolio of prospective donors capable of giving at the major gift level of $25,000 or more to UC Riverside. Responsible for having a comprehensive understanding of university priorities, and regularly meeting with prospective donors and university supporters (with a focus on face-to-face visits), and working collaboratively with University Advancement colleagues and academic partners to achieve fundraising goals. Responsible for preparing briefing materials and gift proposals, attending events, and staffing and/or supervising projects as assigned. Utilizing a high level of professionalism the DOD will work closely with institutional leadership such as college deans, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, and the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education. | 35 |
