Recommends improvements/modifications to the program.

Department Custom Scope
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Non-Resident Recruitment and Evaluation, the International Admissions Specialist is the subject matter expert in areas of international / non-resident admissions and is available to students, families, the campus community, and the general public to independently interpret, enforce, and explain University policies and regulations around UC admissions. Using advanced professional knowledge around non-resident UC admissions, the incumbent is independently responsible for all phases of admission eligibility evaluation of both freshman and transfer international, and out-of-state applicants based on self-reported information, official transcripts, and other pertinent documents. As a seasoned recruitment expert, the International Admissions Specialist will independently develop relationships and represent Undergraduate Admissions to international / non-resident students by creating and implementing various programs and events and participating in school/college visits and college fairs. As needed, the incumbent will travel internationally and out-of-state to recruit prospective and admitted students, and be the front line representative for UCR to these audiences, developing and implementing audience appropriate communication plans.

  • With a keen understanding of each non-resident specific audience, independently develop, and implement communication plans, presentations, and networking opportunities. Represents UCR as the front line subject matter expert.

Identifies potential students, and provides information about higher education generally and UC specifically.

Provides in-depth information on admissions requirements, prerequisite courses, school / college programs and curricula, specific financial aid criteria, and career opportunities.
  • With an understanding of the areas around non-resident enrollment functions, financial aid, admissions, collage requirements and curricular, independently represents UCR to potential non-resident students. Requires in-depth understanding of UC and UCR requirements and services in these areas.

Assesses academic preparedness of traditional, special-program, and international applicants.
  • Using professional judgement, thorough understanding of both the admissions requirements and the over all preparedness of the student for success at UCR, reviews and advises students regarding admissions to UCR.

Evaluates transcripts and international records for eligibility.
  • As a seasoned recruitment subject matter expert, responsible for evaluating transcripts and academic records against the various complex policies, requirements and nuances of non-resident admissions.

Researches foreign educational systems as needed and analyzes academic records from foreign secondary and tertiary institutions (including study abroad records).
  • As an experienced professional in non-resident recruitment, responsible for being the subject matter expert in the various policies, regulations and nuances of the non-resident / international student marketplace.
