Department Custom Scope
The Campus Space/GIS Coordinator is responsible for providing support to both the Campus Space Manager and Campus GIS Manager. The Campus Space/GIS Coordinator is responsible for providing support for UCR's Facilities Management and GIS System as well as performing technical analysis. The position will also support the Planning, Design and Construction staff through completion of ad hoc assignments that support the development of master planning and/or project proposals. The Campus Space/GIS Coordinator work with a certain level of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

Description % Time
Applies professional or research concepts to perform analysis of data and systems pertaining to moderately complex projects, policies, initiatives, processes, and/or functions.
  • Using knowledge of professional GIS concepts and applications, such as ArcGIS software, resolves a variety of analysis and research issues. Works on Space Management assignments where analysis of field data requires a review of a variety of factors such as square footage(s), room type(s), occupant load(s) and usage(s). Coordinates the acquisition of new geospatial and space management data while supervising the integration of information into the organization's GIS and FMS databases. Knowledge of concepts related to GIS data creation, collection, formatting, manipulation, conversion and editing of vector, raster and cadastral data. Field work using GIS mobile applications in the verification, collection and updating of campus data.

Gathers and assembles analytical and factual data on assigned problems and issues to prepare reports and/or analyses summarizing information on the assigned issues and commenting on other significance for internal or external constituents.
  • Assembles data from multiple sources to prepare spreadsheets, reports, maps, or presentations in support of campus planning efforts with various constituents such as service units, academic departments, campus leadership as well as external entities such as the Office of the President.

Plays a key role in supporting GIS and Space Management managers with projects that involve data collection efforts, process creation and/or evaluation, creation or refinement of policies and procedures that directly impact the organization. Such responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating group meetings with various internal and external stakeholders, taking concise and detailed meeting minutes/notes, diligently following up on action items that have an impact on key projects.

Assists in the design, planning and implementation for the development of campus-wide web applications. Assists with familiarizing and training of campus staff in the use of GIS and FMS applications. Provides administrative support to staff various campus committees. Supports the creation and maintenance of internal and external web sites for the Space Management and GIS units.
