Custom Scope
Manages a moderately complex fundraising program. Assignments typically require managing a fundraising staff comprised of several professionals and related administrative support staff. Position is responsible for the full range of development programs and has responsibility for other external relations functions, such as events, volunteer coordination and management and other marketing activities. May oversee and manage personal donor portfolio.

Department Custom Scope
The Sr. Executive Director for Individual Giving reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor, Development, and serves on the senior development leadership team. The incumbent will oversee development officers within the Central Development Office whose focus will be on individual giving at the major gift level. The incumbent will be responsible for the management of the following areas within Central Development - Regional Development, Planned Giving, and Athletics. In conjunction with the Associate Vice Chancellor, the Executive Director will help to create a holistic, strategic and thoughtful approach to the development operation. As a leader on the Development team, the Executive Director will play an essential role in helping UC Riverside complete a transformative and comprehensive fundraising campaign.

Programmatic Operations: Manage annual work-plan development and staff management performance. Assess development operations on an on-going basis and work with the development leadership to create and implement value-added programs and procedures that advance the university's fundraising efforts. Work with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development, Associate Vice Chancellor Development, Campaign Director, and the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Principal Gifts to develop strategies for the University's fundraising initiatives.

Cultivation and Fundraising: Successfully cultivate, solicit and steward a limited, but on-going, portfolio of leadership-gift donors and prospective donors. Work with leadership to understand fundraising goals and expectations. Work with colleagues in alumni relations, communications, and other relevant units to build a culture of philanthropy among alumni, faculty, students, and staff. Manage relevant gift agreements and proposals along with members of the development team.

Miscellaneous Duties: Provide development training, coaching, mentoring, and direction for direct reports. Staff key committees of major donors as part of the University of California Riverside's Foundation. Attend university events; may/often occur evenings, weekends, off-site. Travel as appropriate to represent the university and support fundraising efforts ¿ other responsibilities as necessary.

Excellent knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor and public relations including advanced knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc. Required

Minimum of five+ years demonstrated fundraising or similar leadership experience, preferably in a higher education institution. Required

Possess an intuitive sense of the large enterprise combined with a practical, project orientation. Required
The ability to inspire confidence as well as motivate others, and the ability to excel in the framework of a highly complex research institution with significant aspirations. Required
