Custom Scope
Uses audit and compliance concepts. Applies campus policies and procedures to evaluate a variety of audit issues. Responsible for conducting and documenting moderately complex audit assignments where analysis of situations and data requires the review and interpretation of a variety of factors. Normally receives general instructions on routine audit work; with detailed instructions on new or more complex audit assignments.

Department Custom Scope
The Auditing Analyst will contribute to our growth and success in meeting our mission by reviewing, analyzing and auditing processes and transactions in the school of medicine contracts and grants department. Will conduct regular compliance audits to identify and correct any incorrect transactions. Will collect data to establish trends for process improvement and educational opportunities. Utilizing a variety of reporting tools and exercising professional judgment, the position will collect, compile, synthesize data; perform analysis with respect to data quality; and seek to enhance the functionality of the reporting systems. The budgeted hiring range for this position is up to $72,500.

Key Responsibilities

Under general supervision, applies audit concepts and related financial policies and procedures in conducting and documenting audit projects of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Performs audits on the school of medicine contacts and grants administration. Manages and acts as the initial point of contact of assigned audits. Ensures the consistent and full utilization of the electronic work papers. Sets-up project information, monitors completeness and informs auditors.

Tests the financial and operating system processes for compliance with applicable policy and reports discrepancies or internal control weaknesses.

Develops formal written reports to communicate audit results to management.
  • Timely produces, using Excel and other tools, executive level, complex, analytical, and narrative reports with related supporting documents.

Participates in investigations under the direction of more senior audit leadership.
  • Assists auditors in the execution of audits, including; data gathering, data analysis, word processing and spreadsheets, data management, utilizing various records such as manual and data warehouse.

Oversees and directs student employees. Assigns appropriate tasks that usually result from audits.

Independently research, analyze, interpret, and respond to inquiries from campus faculty, management and staff concerning UC and UCR policies and procedures. This may require communication with other campus and UCOP personnel. Provide similar services for the audit staff. Provide consultation services to campus departments involving a wide range of activities under audit staff supervision. Provide support in special report formats including advisory service reports.

Education and Training: Provides intermittent compliance training on contracts and grants administration based on compliance reviews. Develops educational materials, and presents educational information. Participates in evaluating and updating of educational and training materials.
