Department Custom Scope
Under the supervision of the HR Principal Policy & Communications Analyst, the Director of the UCR Retirement Center (Director) will be responsible for a range of duties in support of the UCR Retiree/Emerti Association. This position is responsible for partnering with the University of California, Riverside Retirement Associations and the Advancement department to establish a process to design and coordinate fundraising efforts. The Director plays a key role in managing the membership process and activities for the UCR Retiree¿s Association and UCR Emeriti Association (UCRAA/UCREA), including coordinating meetings, developing and publishing marketing materials, and scheduling association meetings.

Develops and implements programs, events and/or communication strategies designed to inform alumni and other key constituencies of institutional programs, activities, policies, and practices; constituencies may include the general public, prospective students, students, alumni, parents, donors, campus visitors, government and/or community representatives,.
  • Responsible for the UCRRA and UCREA Programs.

May plan, implement and staff alumni events, identify recruits and assist with volunteers.
  • Responsible for planning UCRRA/UCREA events. Develop and publish all marketing and event materials including Tower Talk Newsletter, brochures, invitations, and flyers. Manage the Email 4 Retirees program, including assisting retirees with setting up the UCR email account after retirement; work with ITS to resolve any email issues. Manage the distribution of all association announcements, marketing materials, and newsletters to members. Establish and develop a program to promote the Retirement Center to management, staff, retirees, faculty, and emeriti. Monitor and update the retiree website.

May research various topics and gather relevant data to inform unit strategic plans, keeping management informed as necessary and providing input as required.

Schedule and plan all Association events and meetings including UCRRA/UCREA joint meetings, quarterly UCRRA board meeting, three (3) yearly UCRRA/UCREA luncheons, Open Enrollment Workshops for retirees, Dickson Lecture Series, and other social activities. Host system-wide CUCRA/CUCEA event every 3-4 years. Schedule educational programs with Fidelity, UCOP, and campus benefits office. Participate in and attend events to promote UCRRA/UCREA, including annual UCR Benefits Fair, semi-annual Council of Retiree and Emeriti Association meetings (CUCRA/CUCEA).

Partner with University Advancement to establish a process to design and coordinate fundraising efforts as well as propose external funding through various sources. Collaborate with other campuses to develop comprehensive programming for UCR Retirement Center and develop a culture of volunteering with the Retirees'/Emeriti Associations.

Manage the membership process for UCRRA/UCREA to include working with benefits retirement counselor for membership processing; managing and monitoring collection of dues from members in coordination with the Retirees' Treasurer and Membership Committee Chair; creating and maintaining membership lists and database; creating and managing distribution lists (online, email, and U.S. mail); working with Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) for the UCR retiree parking benefit. Serve on UCRRA and UCREA committees, as directed by the Presidents of both associations.
