Generic Scope

Custom Scope
Leads in the establishment of operational objectives and work plans for single or multiple programs, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers or professional staff. Assigned programmatic responsibility may include a broad scope, such as health science, research, international activities, policy, etc. Objectives are reviewed by senior management to determine success of the Ethics and Compliance program. Involved in developing, modifying and executing local policies that affect immediate operations and may also impact the entire organization. |
Department Custom Scope
The Director heads the Office of Title IX, Equal Employment & Affirmative Action (Title IX/EEAA) and leads campus efforts to prevent and respond to discrimination, harassment, sexual violence, and discriminatory retaliation. The Director coordinates campus nondiscrimination, affirmative action and equal opportunity programs that strive to exceed legal requirements and fulfill the equity, fairness, and diversity goals of the University. The Director serves as the campus Title IX Officer. Supported by the Assistant Director and Deputy Title IX Officer, the Title IX Officer is responsible for campus implementation of the University of California Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment (SVSH) and for campus efforts to prevent and remediate all forms of sex- and gender-based discrimination and harassment. Title IX/EEAA is part of the Chief Compliance unit, a team of compliance and ethics professionals, auditors, investigators, and affirmative action and equity specialists dedicated to the UC Ethical Values of integrity, excellence, accountability, and respect. The Director reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Compliance Officer, with a dotted line to the UC Systemwide Title IX Director. The Director provides strategic guidance, advice and subject-matter expertise to senior administrators and other campus constituencies, and acts as campus liaison on related matters to regulators, the UC Office of the President and the community. This position supports the advocacy efforts of the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, faculty, staff and in particular, the Chief Diversity Officer, as part of the broad UC commitment to equity and diversity. The Office of Title IX/EEAA works as part of a cross-campus team of investigators to address reports and complaints including through early resolution and formal investigation under established UC and campus policies and procedures. The Director is responsible for overseeing resolution of complaints of discrimination, harassment, and SVSH violations. The Director, in collaboration with campus partners, develops and delivers campus-wide harassment prevention and anti-discrimination education and awareness programs, including Title IX training for faculty, staff and students. |
