Department Custom Scope
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Building, Safety and Emergency Management, the Director of Emergency Management will be responsible for the daily operations of the Office of Emergency Management. Directs, plans, and administers a comprehensive and evolving emergency management program for the entire UCR campus. The Director of Emergency Management, in consultation with leadership, will act on behalf of the institution with outside agencies for emergency response and serve as a campus expert, assisting in guiding the response and recovery efforts of the university when responding to campus emergencies. Serves as the highest-level organization subject matter expert and specific organization official. Delegated authority to act for external regulatory agencies to approve/deny activities that may impact organization's core mission. Assignments involve the most complex professional Emergency Management duties. Works with organization policymakers to create new models and to enhance and improve existing plans and programs to assure and ensure compliant implementation of technical program(s). Decision-making is based on interpretation of relevant law, regulations, and organization policy, professional best practices, relevant science methodology in several disciplinary areas, necessary senior management approvals. Decisions may impact other campus programs, departments, segments of organization, organization-wide, system-wide, and/or regulatory agencies. |
