Department Custom Scope
In support of the IT Service Management (ITSM) initiative, this position will support the development and implementation of optimizing enterprise service management processes, and improving service delivery and collaboration within and across business functions. An additional outcome of the ITSM Initiative is the implementation of best practices as it relates to problem, change, incident, demand, configuration, asset and more. The Service Management Developer will serve as a developer for UC Riverside staff, faculty and students, configuring and building modules, forms and workflows in the ServiceNow Platform to positively affect business and student outcomes. This role will leverage ITS? resources, expertise, and partnerships to achieve operational excellence and contribute in transformational growth aligned with business strategies. Additional responsibilities will include working with customers to demonstrate and review the out-of-the-box ServiceNow processes, analyze the need for customizations or configurations that will support the customer future state, and facilitate acceptance and drive business value.

Applies advanced software concepts to plan, design, develop, modify, debug, deploy and evaluate highly complex software for functional areas. Analyzes existing highly complex software or works to formulate logic and devises algorithms for new highly complex software systems. Performs highly complex data analysis and tests/debugs highly complex software, working directly with management. Initiates, analyzes, designs and applies highly complex data sources. Applies and enforces complex programming security practices.
  • More specifically, participates in design and development activities within the ServiceNow platform and JavaScript/Angular framework using industry established best practices and design methodologies; develops and/or modifies ServiceNow modules in support of ITS service management and campus initiatives; works with ITS and campus constituents to develop future IT service management development plans.

Specifies, develops and executes complex test plans. Develops conversion and system implementation plans. Performs or directs highly complex data modeling, performance and integration testing and builds interfaces. Determines source code control techniques and configuration management design and changes.
  • More specifically, provides backup activities to other ServiceNow development team members regarding the ServiceNow portal built on the angular and java framework; assists in user and experience testing; provides suggestions for enhancements; develops supporting modules, scripts, workflows, and routing as needed; build proofs-of-concept (POC) for potential new solutions and technology, and integrations to ServiceNow with other systems and platforms.

  • More specifically, provides general end-user training regarding the ServiceNow platform; provides general user support for the ServiceNow technical specifications, system design and configuration specifications and requirements; collaborates with ITS to develop new solutions, best practices, and enhancements using the ServiceNow platform.

Prepares and approves or obtains approval for system and programming documentation. Initiates and oversees changes in development, maintenance and system standards. Sets the technical requirements for complex software specifications.
  • More specifically, works with the ServiceNow environment vendor to schedule and manage platform upgrades; negotiates project timelines with ITS and campus stakeholders; provides status reports to respective project managers; documents functional business requirements, process flow diagrams, and business cases.
